Color in Motion (Flash site)
Color in Motion is a clever and imaginative Flash site billed as "an animated and interactive experience of color communication and color symbolism." Or, to put it simply, an animated look at what colors represent. Presumably created as a learning tool, it does a fantastic job of illustrating the impact of color on communication.
The site is movie-themed -- with each of the major colors presented as a "star" (walking around as solid-colored figures) -- and divided into three sections. In "The Stars", you can view a color's profile and learn about their "best friend" (complementary color), what they're "hired to represent" (adjectives/nouns they're typically associated with), and what they're associated with around the world (i.e., in Catholicism, purple often represents contrition or penance since it's associated with Lent).
"The Movies" are short, cute animations that bring those profiles (and the color associations) to life -- showing the red figure jumping on a pogo stick (energetic) and fighting back a forest fire (hot, fiery). And "The Lab" is the interactive portion where you can take quizzes testing your knowledge of the movies and profiles, "direct a scene" with a color based on a given word, or just mess around with the kaleidoscope. Overall, it's definitely a cool resource for kids and adults alike who want to learn about colors.
