The Beatles "Come Together" (Flash animation)
Despite breaking up years before MTV, The Beatles were actually music video pioneers. As they grew tired of going from TV show to TV show promoting their latest hit single, The Beatles started sending in promotional clips instead of actually appearing in-person. The clip for "Strawberry Fields Forever" -- with its psychedelic style and lack of lip-synching to the song itself -- is often considered one of the first examples of a true music video.
So... it was with great interest that I checked out the Flash animation of The Beatles' "Come Together" that's been going around lately. It's pretty cute -- filled with bright colors and zooming in and out around caricatures of the Fab Four (dressed appropriately in Abbey Road cover clothes). The dancing John Lennon (rolling his arms and shakin' his groove thang) seemed a little out-of-place but, with this soundtrack, I can't really complain.
