Can't Beat the Big Animation Studio? Join Them
Animation Job Opportunity
Whether you just graduated from animation school, are working on your portfolio, or working in a job you don’t love, this is a great opportunity to show your skills.
The Mouse House has created an “online artistic submission portal,” said the Animation World Network. Animation artists can submit samples of their portfolio and demo reels at www.DisneyMouseLink.com.
Animation Industry Changing
Given the influx of computer animation features on the big screen (and the large profits associated with them), the industry is heading in a different direction. While the days of classic cartoon animation features seem over, growth will need to happen in computer animation in order for the onset of big studio animation features to continue.
Disney states that this is a great opportunity for new animators to show their talents. But what is the bigger implication behind this unusual casting call?
Submission is Good Career Experience
Maybe Disney is looking for the next big thing in cartoon or computer animation. Maybe it is redesigning its animation studios. Maybe it is planning an expansion of its film and TV networks to include more animation.
Whatever it is, it means opportunity for new animation artists. Even if you’re still in animation school, submitting to animation studios of any size is a good experience. Building a portfolio, assembling demo reels, and entering a process where you may receive feedback is excellent practice for a career in animation.
