Computer-Aided Design

About Computer-Aided Design

Computer-Aided Design, (CAD), involves using computer software to assist in the design process. This specialized computer-aided design software can be used for industrial design, product design, fashion design, architectural design, and engineering, and is particularly useful for web design or graphic art and animation. Computer-aided design software programs allow you to design structures using both two and three-dimensional components, and to generate technical illustrations that are later used for the final construction. These illustrations are flexible, allowing you to change drawings with minimal effort.

Computer Aided- Design Training

There are both vocational and degree programs available in computer-aided design that offer practical, hands-on training on the latest design software programs. The curriculum in these programs includes coursework in computer-aided drafting and design, as well as in related areas such as graphic design, applied mathematics, and geometry. Upon completion of your training, you will be able to create your own designs or modules, or take sketches and produce a set of two or three-dimensional drawings.

Career Opportunities

With CAD training, you could find work as a consultant for engineers or architects, land surveyors, manufacturing companies, government agencies, or fashion designers. You can also use your training in computer-aided design software to help you advance in your own career as a graphic artist, web designer, or animator. If this sounds like the career for you, getting the right training can provide you with the opportunities you want.
