About Computer Graphic Design

Computer Graphic Design is the creative process where technology and creativity come together. Computer graphic design focuses primarily on developing graphic technology such as digital photography and photo printing, and using them to create graphic art. The graphic design industry is booming, and it is the primary industry responsible for the majority of all major print media ranging from brochures, posters, advertisements, magazine layouts, and commercials.

A Computer Graphic Design Degree

Earning a degree in computer graphic design will provide you with the opportunity to learn how to use the most up to date computer graphic technology. You will learn to create and develop life-like images on a computer screen by using special computer programs and devices, and how to manipulate these images using computer-aided software. A computer graphic design degree program will also focus more specifically on certain aspects of computer graphic design such as digital photography, or animation.

In a computer graphic design degree program you will most likely be required to take a number of math courses, including advanced geometry, algebra, and calculus, as math is the basis for most computing languages. In addition to these, your curriculum will likely include several computer science courses, including courses on learning different programming languages, courses in computer animation, digital photography, operating systems and database management. A degree in computer graphic design will not only teach you how to use new and different computer technology, it will also challenge you to create and complete a range of print media briefs including magazine layouts, advertisements, logos, packaging materials, and brochures. These briefs will become the beginning of your design portfolio by which you will be measured as you look for employment in the computer graphic design industry.
