India Proves Profitable for Careers in Animation
In Navi Mubai, animation school graduate Anish Nair is still taking courses to keep his animation skills sharp. Animation schools are popular in India, where jobs in animation are plentiful. He says that there is demand for all sorts of jobs in animation, thanks to US film projects.
Outsourcing the Source of High Salaries
Thanks to the increasingly heavy use of animation in big feature productions, the need for good animators has increased beyond the ability of the US to pay for them effectively. Indian animation production houses such as “Rhythm and Hues,” and “Maareech” are providing resources to Hollywood.
The effect is that a wealth of jobs in animation is created in this country, where new animation schools are popping up to meet the need for Hollywood animation.
Animation Salaries
Mr. Nair also says that the salaries grow in “geometric progression” from position to position within a career in animation. Jobs in animation also pay well here in the States, even if they do not make the same leaps and bounds. The average salary of an animator in film was $67,390 two years ago, well above the national average.
A career in animation can mean a profitable future, not just a chance to work on feature films. Like Mr. Nair, keeping your skills sharp will ensure that you’re qualified for the best jobs.
